An Eventful Week
An Eventful Week
Well, I figured everyone might be interested in some of the goings-on here in the past week, since it was more than just palm trees and 87 degree temps that we got to experience. Some days here just look very much the same, but in the past week, the following occurred:
★ One of the American high school girls here was sworn in as a Republic of the Marshall Islands citizen so that she could represent the RMI at the Beijing Summer Olympics as a swimmer.
★ A practice missile launched from Vandenberg AFB at 8 PM our time could be seen over North Point waters (across the street from where we live) 25 minutes later, looking like a shooting star, clear as day, going into the water. (Mark was part of the team tracking it with the radar here.) I wanted to catch this on camera, but I was too busy making sure 3 kids got to see it.
★ Christopher's class got to go on a field trip to see the inside of an L-1011. See photo above. More photos are here.
Just when I thought Kwaj was getting boring! :)
