Coconut Man
So, today I casually asked Caroline if she heard that loud noise as we were playing a game on the floor. It had been going on for a good 10 minutes, but I thought initially it was David jumping in his crib. She then responded, incredibly nonchalantly: "Oh, Mom, that's just that man outside my window knocking down the coconuts and branches. I watched him from my bedroom window when you were putting David to bed." Well, with that, we grabbed the camera and took some photos. The Marshallese men can be kind of shy, so I was glad he never looked over as we snapped pictures. They are a little blurry because we took them from inside the bedroom windows that cannot open. The climbers scale the tree with spiked boots and a rope that sits in the notches of the trunk. They have to knock down the heavier branches and mature coconuts, or they will fall on our heads.
