Brave New World: Kindergarten!

There are no words to explain the excitement in the house as Caroline got ready for full-day kindergarten. I'm not sure which one of us was more ready. :) Unlike the other moms who trailed along all week to accompany the four trips back and forth to school (morning, home to lunch, back from lunch, and afternoon return), I was quite sharply scolded for attempting to accompany, ride behind, or even "spy" on my kindergartener. She wanted the entire almost-mile back and forth to herself. So, we scrapped my sentimental notions of a gentle and gradual "letting go" for full-fledged independence. She did a super job and is very responsible on the road now. I miss you, sweet Buttercup, but I share your delight in your newfound independence. We are more alike than you may ever admit. :)
