New Home, New Pets
Most of these pictures are self-explanatory...basically, the inside of our home, with a few outside or patio shots.
At the end are a few pictures of the 10 new additions to our family, hermit crabs (which we are keeping in captivity as a brief home science project and will eventually set free again to their oceanfront home, trading them in for some new tenants). We find at least one crawling across our patio every day, and at dusk, they can be found crawling all over the beaches. There are some in the rocks on the beach that are the size of small grapefruit, but we don't take those home because we don't have big enough shells for them to move into. Since we got our XL cage and hermit crab food in the mail, we put them in the cage and named them all, but they are really confusing us now, because several of them have already traded shells and left theirs empty. I watched one trying to bully another out of the desired shell. I read that they get bored of their "outfits" and like to get re-dressed for fun. So, I bought a bunch of shiny, extra shells, and at least 3 or 4 of them have already changed clothes so far! I guess they like the new duds I picked out for them. They stay outside on our patio in their cage because they dig the humidity better than our a/c.
