Bigej
Prounounced "BEEgee," like the retro rock band, this uninhabited island is a favorite among Kwaj residents. A bunch of MIT folks convinced us naive new-bies that renting a boat for the morning and boating the 10 miles to Bigej for a swim would be a fun outing. The part they didn't tell us about until about 3 days before we went was that the boats cannot pull all of the way to the shore, so you have to swim a ways in....not an easy feat with three kids in life jackets. David wasn't too keen on that part. Although they aren't too close, nurse sharks and huge sea turtles aren't too far away either. You can see how far out the boats are here and also how beautiful the lagoon is. I was expecting to see the Skipper and Marianne! :) If you click on individual pictures here, some of them (not all) have captions that will better explain what they are showing.
